Demi was born and raised in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Demi served over 1700 hours as an AmeriCorps Student Success Coach and Team Leader at City Year Miami, interned with Deloitte Business Tax Services, and was a part of the inaugural AYLF Miami cohort. She continues to build partnerships within the Miami community to address and raise awareness on food insecurity through her AYLF cohort’s community impact project “Fridge of Plenty Miami.” She is dedicated to serving the future scholars of her community by building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable educational experience. She is a proud first-generation college graduate from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting and a minor in Finance. She aspires to earn a fual master’s degree in accountancy and public administration. She is deeply rooted in her passion to help her community through service. She enjoys reading growth mindset books, event planning, and bullet journaling. She believes her creativity, determination, and work ethic has shaped her to be the successful black young woman she is today. The hope she holds for her community is to reflect on history in order to create a better future.
