James Forté

James is the director of local recruitment for Teach for America Mississippi/Arkansas. An ally for equitable education for all children, he combats education inequity by building coalitions that foster agency and belonging for all children and young adults. Previously, James was director of annual giving for Millsaps College, held multiple roles at Delta State University including alumni affairs director, and directed the urban outreach program at Streamside Camp & Conference Center. A former Peace Corps volunteer, he served in Lesotho, Africa. James is a fellow of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Leadership Network with the Center for Creative Leadership, engaging in 18 months of training with leaders from around the country. He is a graduate of Lane College (bachelor’s in biology) and Delta State University (Master of Science, community development).
