Andres Carlos-Tamez

Andres is a student at DePaul University where he is pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television. He has worked with TCEP, an organization in La Villita Chicago that aims to create social change in the neighborhood by mentoring youth and helping out struggling elderly in the neighborhood. Through his engagement with the program, Andres was able to learn about running a nonprofit, managing fundraisers, and more. He brought his filmmaking skills to the table and was able to make promotional videos for the organization. Andres also made a short documentary that was very moving and highlighted issues in the community like gentrification. He has also been associated with the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, a place that focuses on the arts to underrepresented communities in Chicago. Lastly, a musician at heart, Andres has also been teaching music and working on commissions at the Center.
