Brenda Velarde

Brenda is a Newark native and a student at Rutgers University pursuing a degree in Psychology while also minoring in Social Justice. She intends to enroll in graduate school and become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. At Rutgers University, Brenda was a part of the Honors Living and Learning Community, an innovative program that is revolutionizing honors, cultivating talent, and engaging communities. She is the coordinator for the Peer Mentoring program and also a member of the ImVisible team which aims to celebrate, connect, and heal our im/migrant narratives. Brenda Velarde participated in the 2017-2018 AYLF Newark cohort and is now in the alumni phase of the fellowship program.
